Information on the Dünencamp

Position:
The campsite stretches for approximately 1 km along the Baltic Sea coastline, situated in a quiet spot just behind the dunes in the middle of the beautiful coastal forest. Dünencamp Karlshagen is to be found in the north of Usedom, the most untouched part of the holiday island. Camping here allows you to be very close to nature. The name of our site gives away our position – right behind Karlshagen’s Baltic beach and in the middle of the idyllic small pine forest. The kilometre-long and remarkably wide sandy beach is adjoining to the Dünencamp. A light breeze off the sea thus carries the sound of crashing waves and always brings with it the healthy sea air straight into the tents and caravans.

Opening Period:
The campsite is run by the Eigenbetrieb “Tourismus und Wirtschaft” and is open all-year-round.

Reservations:
You can make a reservation at any time in the year. These can be made in writing, by phone, by fax and by e-mail. Generally you can come to the campsite without a reservation. In the peak holiday period, on public holidays and at the weekends, we cannot guarantee that there will be any available pitches. Should you have any questions, you can call the campsite’s reception on +49 38371 20291 or contact them by fax on +49 38371 20310.

Pitches:
The campsite has a capacity of approximately 340 pitches. To help you find your way around the site more easily, we have divided it into three sections – “Wald”, “Sonne” and “Meer”, which enables the “small campers” to find their way back to the tent easily and not get lost. Thus each of the pitches is marked accordingly. All of the pitches have been plotted out. On request, we can reserve your desired pitch. The Zeltplatzstraße leads all the way through the campsite. Further tracks lead to the tents and campervans/caravans and down to the beach. Electricity and water can be found everywhere – every 20 to 30 metres you will find distribution boxes and water pumps, so that there will be no problems brewing the obligatory fresh cup of tea or coffee in the mornings. In the “Wald” section, campers can also make use of the television connections. W-LAN is available in the part of the site surrounding the reception building.

Campsite Plan:

Electricity:

A modern electricity supply with individual metres is at your disposal; however it is not always situated directly next to the pitches.

Drinking Water:
Taps are spread over the entire campsite; however there are not individual taps for each pitch.

Very modern Sanitary Facilities:
There are three modern sanitary buildings on the Dünencamp site. WCs, single and family showers, as well as disabled toilets and showering facilities are on hand for use by the campers. There is a central disposal area for dirty water. For our four-legged friends, we have a dog shower.

Everything for Children:
You will also find all sorts for the smallest campers.
Dünencamp’s sanitary facilities are fitted with baby changing tables and baby bath tubs. Children will feel grown up whilst brushing their teeth and washing their hands at the extra low sinks.

Medical Care:
In Karlshagen you will find two general practitioner (GP) practices, a dentist, a physiotherapists and a pharmacy. Duty lists for the weekends can be found in the reception.

Supplies:

On our campsite you will find a camping supply shop and a small restaurant.

Traffic:
The Zeltplatzstraße is a dead-end and is generally only used by camping friends to access their pitches. Driving is forbidden on the campsite throughout the midday period and the night (see the campsite rules).

Parking:
Are you coming by car? No problem. Safe car-parking spaces are available for your use during your stay at the Dünencamp. These are mainly situated on the edge of the campsite, along the Zeltplatzstraße and near to the caravan pitches. To be able to guarantee you a good parking space, we ask you to indicate the number of vehicles you will be arriving in on your booking. The parking of cars is only allowed on marked and assigned spaces on the tracks within the campsite and on a car-park outside of the campsite.

Children:
Every Tuesday and Thursday there are events for children at the Strandvorplatz. The fine and light beach invites the little ones to dig and make sandcastles. The broad sandy beach, that only gradually gets deeper, offers perfect conditions for swimming.

Events and Sights:
Information on various events can be found on the event calendar (on the display wall and available at reception). It is possible to hire bikes and wicker beach chairs. The well signposted coastal bike path leads through the coastal forest of our Baltic Sea resort, right beside the Zeltplatzstraße and down past Karlshagen’s marina. It joins Peenemünde to the Baltic Sea resort of Ahlbeck, the northern most and the eastern most points of the island of Usedom.

Beach:
The fine, white sandy beach, which is up to 70 metres wide, leads straight into the Baltic Sea, which only gets deeper very gradually and thus offers ideal conditions for families. The beach area in front of the campsite is patrolled by lifeguards for your safety. There is a surf school on the sports beach. Their offers include windsurfing, sailing, canoes and banana boat. On top of that, you can also play beach volleyball in the sports beach section. The water quality is checked every 14 days between May and September and has always been classified as “good” or “very good”. Nudists can use the part of the beach which has been allocated especially for them.

Dogs:
You are allowed to bring your dog(s) with you if you comply to the following rules:
Dogs are to be kept on leads at all times.
There is a section of the beach that has been marked off especially for dogs. That is the only part of the beach where you can walk with your dog.
There are dog waist disposal bags at the campsite’s reception, all the way along the Strandstraße and in the Kurpark.
